World Wide Web FAQ: Ask Me Directly!

STOP -- READ THIS -- THANK YOU

I ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WEB ITSELF.

I answer questions about World Wide Web technology -- web sites, web servers, web browsers, Internet audio and video, HTML, DHTML... and so on. I do not answer questions about unrelated subjects. Of course, the web is a great tool for learning about many things. See my answer to the question, "How do I do research on the Web?" If you really want someone else to do your research for you, consider using Google Answers. Of course, Google Answers is not free, so I suggest you learn to use search engines effectively instead.

STUDENTS: I WILL NOT DO YOUR SCHOOLWORK.

This does not mean you cannot ask me a relevant question about the web as part of your research, but obvious homework questions will be deleted unread. Thank you for your understanding.

Why I Do This

The original WWW FAQ was a valuable resource, but the questions -- not just the answers -- were very out of date. I order to fix that, I am offering to answer your web-related questions personally and directly, in order to learn what the most frequently asked questions about the web are today, as opposed to when the FAQ was originally created. The new FAQ you see today is a work in progress.

Again, by submitting your question, you agree to these terms. I cannot guarantee that every question will be answered, or that every question will be answered in a timely manner. Your question may or may not appear in the new WWW FAQ.

Read the fine print? Great! Go ahead and submit your question about the web. No questions about other topics, please. PLEASE NOTE: you must provide a working email address in order to receive any reply. Your email address will remain private.
